Say Cheese: Grilled cheese with ham and pineapple

Today's cheese creation is a Tropical Grilled Cheese.

Sandwich #2: Grilled Cheese with Ham and Pineapple.


I have to say, although the sandwich looks delicious, I wasn't too impressed. For some reason, the pineapple blocked the heat to the cheese. The bread was near burning, but the cheese wasn't melted yet. And that my friends is the tell-tale sign of a mediocre Grilled Cheese.


However, I loved the taste of the grilled pineapple so much that I tried Michael Smith's Grilled Pineapple Salad recipe the next night.

Basically, grill pineapple and onions on the BBQ, then cut them up and mix them together with lemon juice, mint and olive oil.
 
A simple, but delicious side salad for BBQ season. I truly believe that anything tastes good on the BBQ.
 
 

All in all, a dissapointing Grilled Cheese. But I did find inspiration for an amazing side salad. That's the fun of cooking right?

  1. Love Michael Smith! I must tell you...after reading this, I went home and made a grilled cheese for dinner. Whole grain rye bread, loads of cheddar, prosciutto..and ketchup. For the gourmet in me.
